"This book is similar in style to Gary Taubes' book Why We Get Fat, although it is not as well written. This book would be best for medical professionals who want an inside look at where nutrition research comes from and how it then affects nutrition policy. This book is too dense for average lay person in my opinion. I am a wholistic nutrition professional and heard most of this information before. I agree with it, but have found better written books on the subject that would appeal to an average reader."

  • I am only half way through the book but what I have read so far amazes me. There are many research studies that I had not heard of before that back up the low carb/Keto way of eating, especially for people with diabetes. I highly recommend this book to all diabetics wanting to heal themselves.
  • A much better tome than his previous work. While the snarkiness towards more conventional dietary interventions is a bit tiresome, he goes into considerable detail as to the underlying biochemistry that he believes is central to obesity and weight loss. While the idea that excess adiposity is driven by an interaction between diet and the endocrine system is not well accepted by mainstream science, he presents a compelling argument in favor of it. Possibly a bit much for a lay person (can be a bit technical) but a worthy read for anyone interested in the topic of weight gain and loss.
  • This book is heavy into biochemistry and does discuss the misleading flaws of nutritional science. There is such fake news about diets and health just so the food industry manufacturers can sell their products. Obesity and T2 diabetes are at an all time high in this country. Dr Feinman has written a book that explain about how low carb eating can reverse these. Read this book if you want to know how shoddy some research has been just to convince the public that all ‘their’ processed foods are safe. This book is deep reading but very worth the read.

  • Nutrition/diet 'information' is a mess! So many 'agendas' impacting our media and medical sources, it's almost impossible to know the current scientific 'truth'. This book has the answers we need to truly utilize real current science for the sake of our most precious possession... our health.
  • The medical establishment is all about the evidence. Finally, here it is. This book is for those of us who truly want to understand the current research. While it may require some concentration, understanding the science is the first step to being able to decipher the medical literature. For those of us not burdened with a biochemistry degree, Dr. Feinman enables us to make informed decisions regarding our nutrition and our health. If you dig into this book, you can appreciate the historical bias of nutrition research and be prepared to assess future studies for their own merit. You will no longer be at the mercy of the media or "expert" opinion. You can look at the evidence yourself.
  • This was a very difficult book to get through. Heavy with scientific language and not enough examples of the ideas presented. I was interested in the question he posed about how to tell which nutritional facts were true since it seems there are many contrasting ideas on what good to eat. I don't think the author tackled that question fully. If you can appreciate a more scientific approach to nutrition this is a book for you. Just not my cup of tea.
